Where can I find a place to park?
Downtown offers over 85 parking facilities from outdoor surface parking to open-air parkades, and, of course, heated parkades and underground parking facilities that allow you access to shopping and other services without ever going outside. With more than 45,000 parking stalls downtown, parking is easily accessible to everyone going almost anywhere in the downtown core.  Check out the links below to make finding a parking spot downtown even easier.

How can I avoid getting a parking ticket?
You never have to get a parking ticket. If you are unsure about the amount of time you will require for shopping or running errands you should choose a location with a pay on exit option such as a location with an attendant.  As well, Imperial Parking offers a "Pay by Phone" option at most of their meter locations.  The "Pay by Phone" option charges the same rates as the meter rates for each individual location and allows you to add time from your cellular phone if you are running late.

Why do parking rates vary?
Parking rates are determined by supply and demand. A strong demand for a specific parking lot - perhaps due to convenience of location or a lot that provides heat in the winter - will increase the value of that parking lot along with the rates.

Why is parking downtown so expensive?
Surprisingly, the cost of parking in Edmonton is an incredible bargain compared to a majority of other major Canadian cities. Low rates in Edmonton can be found throughout downtown, whereas in most other cities low rates are only found on the fringes of downtown.

Why should I shop downtown and not at a mall where I can park for free?
We all know the unpredictability of the weather in Edmonton, and especially the harsh winter season we endure. Being able to park in a heated, connected, secure parkade, and leaving your coat in the trunk of your car while you're walking the pedway system to your destination is a great alternative to parking outside a mall.
