Downtown Edmonton has long been home to queer resilience, brilliance and imagination, from the first Pride parades to queer bookstores. Recently, much of that history has been recorded by the Edmonton Queer History Project. The organization has been documenting these histories known only to a few members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, two spirit and queer communities. Seldom are queer lives or culture included as part of our city’s official history, school curricula, or public discourse. This summer those stories come to life with free Edmonton Downtown walking and bus tours hosted by Michael Phair and Darren Hagen. Book a walking tour for July 14, July 19, August 9 and August 26.
