June 21 is National Indigenous Peoples Day. With the support of the Capital Power Indigenous Art Fund, the AGA is offering free admission to all exhibitions and programming, as they recognize the art, history, heritage, resilience and diversity of First Nations, Inuit and Métis across Canada.
All exhibitions will be open—visitors are invited to take in exhibitions featuring Indigenous artists, including kisikayastew ᑭᓯᑲᔭᐢᑌᐤ…when the night shines like the day (featuring the art of Lana Whiskeyjack) and ᐋᐧᐸᑲᐧᓃᐊᐧᐣ Wâpakwanîwin (To bloom, it has many flowers), an exhibition in the Children’s Gallery (featuring the art of Christi Belcourt).
Head to the AGA website to learn more about the schedule for the day. Celebrate and learn more about the Indigenous art, heritage and cultures at your AGA on June 21!
