A topic that’s top of mind for many Canadians right now—the rising cost of food—is the theme for the next edition of Learn Downtown.
Inflation is a regular phenomenon, and predictable inflation is not necessarily bad for society. But unpredictable inflation can cause serious harm to society by restricting the availability of sufficient and appropriate combination of nutritious food to vulnerable populations, including young children and low-income families. In this presentation, Dr. Shahidul Islam will share his ideas on what inflation is, how it affects society, why food inflation is so critical, and what can be done about it.
Join Dr. Shahidul Islam, Associate Professor of Economics at MacEwan University, to discuss Canada’s food inflation and how it affects people, especially low-income families, and vulnerable populations.
