Come and enjoy Books with Buzz(kill) Cabaret, a LitFest showcase highlighting some of this year’s most talked-about literary works. Experience readings and conversations with Jennifer Bowering Delisle, Amber Dawn, Canisia Lubrin, and Alex Manley, hosted by Kate Gibson.

Featured Books:

Stock by Jennifer Bowering Delisle – Playful ekphrastic poetry exploring stock photography and its clichés, bias, and representation of women.

Buzzkill Clamshell by Amber Dawn – A raw, lyrical poetry collection embracing trauma, chronic pain, and lewd feminine power.

The World After Rain: Anne’s Poem by Canisia Lubrin – A radiant elegy for her mother that explores love, loss, and belonging with epic vision.

Post-Man by Alex Manley – Essays exploring life as a neurodivergent non-binary person, gender, identity, and personal resilience.

About the Authors:

Jennifer Bowering Delisle – Edmonton-based writer and board member of NeWest Press. Author of Stock and previous award-winning works.

Amber Dawn – Writer and creative facilitator from Vancouver, BC. Author of novels and poetry collections, including Buzzkill Clamshell.

Canisia Lubrin – Griffin Poetry Prize winner and poetry editor at McClelland & Stewart. Originally from St. Lucia, now based in Whitby.

Alex Manley – Non-binary writer, editor, translator, and poet from Montreal/Tiohtia:ke. Author of Post-Man and other works exploring identity and gender.
