Dragons Unleashed Parade

97 Street from 107 A Ave to 105 Ave

Unleash the Dragons and Lions!  Edmonton’s Dragon festival kicks off as dragons and lions are unleashed onto 97 street.  97 streets will be swarming with brightly colored dragons and lions showcasing their dance moves and friendly competitions as they vie for audiences attention.

Attendees are welcome to participate in the festivities by dressing up in their preferred dragon (or dinosaur), hanfu, or anime attire.

Dragons in the water. Dragons in the air. Oh no ! Dragons on the loose everywhere!!!
There are dragon boats in the water.  There are huge dragon kites in the air.  There are colossal dragon inflatables.  There are dancing dragons and lions.  Louise Mckinney park will be teaming with dragons.  Come and fly a kite with us and enjoy a fun day with activities for the whole family.  First 30 families will get a free dragon kite to fly. The Edmonton Dragon Boat Society and Edmonton Dragon Boat Racers will be on hand to do some demonstrations and talks about Dragon boats and Dragon boat racing. There will be stories about the Chinese Garden.  Dr. Larry Louie and Larry Wong will be doing a free photo workshop in the morning from 9:30-10:30 am for photo enthusiasts. There will be a photo contest for the best photos capturing the essence of our Dragon Festival. There will be a scavenger hunt with the Story City App.

Dragon on the Loose Family Funday with Marty Chan
CTC Story Centre at the Hull Block 10601-97 Street Edmonton, AB

The CTC Story Centre is being transformed into a dragon’s lair as we present Marty Chan’s latest children book Dragons on the Loose.  Marty Chan will be in to do a reading from his newly released book, but we know with Marty – it is never a straight plain old reading without some surprises.  It will be a fun and entertaining afternoon for families with kids.  There will be a book signing afterwards.  There will be kite painting and learning to draw dragons with artist and art teacher Sandra Popowich.  Cotton candy, gummmy worms ….. wonder if Zhu, Marty’s dragon from his book will come for a visit from the Middle Kingdom.  This event is free for the public, but registration is necessary.
