2 Sir Winston Churchill Square Edmonton, Alberta Canada, T5J 2C1
Celebrate Indigenous culture, language and history on Saturday, June 21 at the Art Gallery of Alberta. This year’s theme, Reclamation, explores healing and reconnection through art, tradition and community.
The afternoon includes an Elder blessing, live performance, and a hands-on workshop led by Veronica McRae. In Healing Through Ribbons, Veronica shares her journey of reconnecting through ribbon skirt-making, followed by guided instruction to make your own ribbon skirt lapel pin.
You can also join curator Alaynee Goodwill-Littlechild for a tour of the AGA’s Reciprocity Garden | ᐋᐧᐦᑰᐦᑐᐃᐧᐣ (wâhkôhtowin) and learn the Cree names of the garden’s plants and creatures, along with the deeper meaning behind the exhibition’s focus on connection and care.
