YOUCAN Youth Services, a non-profit organization that helps young people overcome barriers to employment, is now settled into its new home in downtown Edmonton and looking for partnerships with businesses in the heart of the city.
Through its programming, YOUCAN provides training, mentorship, and employment supports for Edmonton’s youth who have faced various barriers to employment.
Once participants complete the program, approximately 80 per cent move into jobs (while some return to school), and around 70 per cent stay in the job

“We’re able to provide a vetted population for the downtown core,” said Katie Kitschke, executive director of YOUCAN Youth Services. “We know they’re going to show up on time and understand how to be respectful in a workplace. It’s our reputation on the line, so we make sure the fit is right for both the young person and the employer.”
