Swing into a new golf experience downtown at Albatross Virtual Golf

Mother Nature can’t dampen this company’s golf spirit or innovative ideas as they successfully elevate the indoor experience for downtown patrons.
We saw a gap for an upscale, hospitality-first venue that blends top-tier golf tech with a full bar and a real food menu.

In Edmonton, outdoor sports often fall victim to the elements for roughly six months of the year. Therefore, Albatross Virtual Golf responded by enhancing the typical indoor game experience by including premium golf technology and hospitality in each round.

“We saw an incredible demand from downtown residents, post-secondary students and corporate workers looking for something engaging to do right after work or on weekends without having to drive out of the core,” says Cameron Clark, owner and operator of Albatross Virtual Golf, adding that he wanted to create a premium, high-energy indoor space where people could connect year-round, “especially through Edmonton’s long winters.”

To the Albatross team, indoor golf is about the whole experience and is meant for more than just elite golfers. They welcome players of all skill levels, creating a space where beginners and seasoned golfers alike can enjoy the game.

Clark explains, “We saw a gap for an upscale, hospitality-first venue that blends top-tier golf tech with a full bar and a real food menu.”
Part of the top-tier experience Albatross golfers encounter includes hand-crafted cocktails and local craft beers served to their room, as well as food from a full kitchen serving a menu inspired by a Red Seal chef.

Even the design of the space was intentional. Clark wanted to move away from the typical virtual golf setup, which can resemble “commercial basements or strip mall bays.”
Albatross offers every group private, sound-insulated rooms to play at their own pace. This eliminates some of the pressure that open bays create, when everyone can watch you play.

For an even more elevated experience, golfers can book a VIP room containing a private bathroom and larger seating area than the typical rooms. For large group events, Albatross also has two rooms that can open into a double screen, enabling more people to gather together.

For those who appreciate technology, Albatross has ceiling-mounted ProTee VX dual-camera launch monitors integrated with 4K projection, giving players detailed feedback while creating a more immersive way to play and improve their game.

“There are no floor sensors, marked balls or awkward club stickers required,” Clark says, adding that in the near future, Albatross will be running “GolfCore,” featuring a massive 30,000-course library on Engine 5 graphics (enabling players to see every individual blade of grass), along with an AI trainer, and course builder with tournament and league modes.
Beyond the golf experience, Albatross adds practical conveniences for any downtown resident, worker or visitor to appreciate, including free underground parking and complimentary club rentals.

Whether you’re planning a casual round with friends, a corporate event or looking for a new downtown gathering spot, Albatross Virtual Golf offers a year-round experience for golfers and newcomers alike.
