A cross-generational soul collaboration featuring the Get downs

Edmonton’s favourite retro party band, the Get downs, brings its signature groove to the theatre stage for a special two-show engagement on May 30. This 10-piece ensemble is known for its polished, infectious energy and a repertoire that spans the greatest hits of soul, rhythm and blues. From Stevie Wonder to Aretha Franklin, the band’s performances are designed to get the audience moving to the classic sounds of the 1960s and 70s.

This unique event features a special collaboration with the emerging voices of the Cantilon chamber choir. By blending a seasoned rhythm and blues band with the precision of a choral ensemble, Big soul celebrates the power of soul music across generations. It is a one-of-a-kind local partnership that transforms the theatre into a high-energy celebration of feel-good rhythms.

Performance highlights

Double engagement: The event offers a 1 p.m. matinee and a 7 p.m. evening performance to accommodate different schedules.
