Edmonton Dragon Festival

The Edmonton Dragon Festival takes over 96 Street this summer for a massive, three-day community celebration spanning from 102 Avenue to 103 Avenue. This free street festival brings downtown Edmonton to life with championship athletics, live music, outdoor cinema and cultural performances across two main stages.

The festival footprint features a large main stage dedicated to high-flying lion dance competitions, alongside a secondary stage in Kinistinâw Park hosting puppet shows and cultural acts. Visitors can explore the Taste of Chinatown Night Market featuring local food trucks, artisan merchants and community booths, or head over to the TD Family Fun Zone / Pandy’s Playground for children’s crafts, inflatables and prize giveaways all weekend long.

Daily schedule highlights

• Friday: Lion dance preliminaries kick off at 9 a.m., followed by an evening feature presentation of Shades of LuLu (2026) at 7 p.m. presented by OCD Production and the Chinatown Transformation Collaborative. The night wraps up at 7:15 p.m. with Reel Chinatown, a free outdoor screening of Shaolin Soccer (2001) presented by the FascinAsian Film Festival.
• Saturday: Festivities begin at 9 a.m. with the grand Opening Ceremony and Parade of Lions, leading into the Canadian National Lion Dance Championship at 10 a.m. The evening closes out with a live Canto-pop night concert presented by Candycmusic Production from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
• Sunday: The excitement continues at 9 a.m. with the Pan American Lion Dance Championship and ongoing cultural performances, concluding with the official Closing Ceremony and Awards Presentation at 5 p.m.
