The Loop is a social innovation mixer for people working in social enterprise, tech for good, social impact, and the circular economy in Edmonton. Not a panel. Not a pitch night. Not a conference. Just the right people, finally in the same room at the same time.
Think of it as a science fair meets an ecosystem summit. Someone working in agtech on seed processing meets someone working in food rescue and redistribution. They are both on the same loop of the circular food economy, and they have probably never spoken to each other. Until now.
What This Feels Like
Doors open at 4:30 PM. From there, the space is yours to wander. Brighton Block will be set up in science fair style, with different zones for different parts of the circular economy (agriculture, textile recovery, food systems, sustainable building, tech for good, and more). Your name tag will include a cue about what part of the ecosystem you’re working in, so finding your people, and discovering unexpected ones, happens naturally.
There will be conversation starters throughout the space and a chance to add to a give and take board to share ideas, resources, and connections organically. At a few points during the evening, we will jump on the mic and ask the co-host’s to give the room two minutes on what the do and what they’re working on. Not a pitch, just a window. Then back to the floor.
There are quieter corners, soft seating, a small outdoor patio, and hangout zones for anyone who is looking for a quieter spot. Come and go as you need. Stay until 8:00 PM or later if the conversation keeps going.
Who This is For
This event is for people who have already bought in to the concept. You do not need to spend your evening convincing anyone that social enterprise is a valid business model, that impact matters, or that a $50,000 a month business doing something meaningful is worth paying attention to. In this room, that’s just the baseline.
Whether you’re a startup founder, a fractional professional, an ecosystem partner, someone in economic development, or a frontline worker creating internal revenue for your organization, if you are actively involved or interested in making a living by solving communal problems, you belong here.
