Join Latitude 53 for a special edition of Crafternoon in partnership with The Archive Dive project. This is a unique opportunity to explore Edmonton’s 2SLGBTQ+ history through a hands-on, creative lens.
Participants will dive into a travelling archive that includes Womonspace newsletters (1982–2007), books, and rare resources. Discover how graphic design, fonts, and illustrations have told the story of lesbian history over the last 40 years, then use those inspirations to build your own custom cards, images, or Valentines.
This informal, social session is led by Kristy Harcourt, a long-time community organiser and educator. It’s the perfect way to “nerd out” over local history while meeting new people in a welcoming space.
Event Highlights:
Hands-on History: Access a curated collection of queer resources not usually found in formal archives.
Get Crafty: Create your own art or Valentines using images and themes from the archive.
Local Flavour: Enjoy refreshments generously provided by our neighbours at Credo Coffee.
Accessibility Note: Please be aware that the gallery’s single washroom is only accessible via two irregular-sized steps.
Cost: Admission by donation
