Free FIFA World Cup watch parties and family festivities downtown

Following Team Canada’s historic send-off victory at Commonwealth Stadium, Edmonton’s celebration of the beautiful game continues downtown with the Summer of soccer. Running until July 19, the Fan Park and ICE District Plaza will host a massive series of 97 free, all-ages World Cup watch parties, broadcast live on giant screens.

The festivities are split between two primary viewing areas. The Tent in the Fan Park will host at least 17 marquee matches—including all Team Canada broadcasts—complete with food trucks, beverage gardens, live DJs and face painting. Meanwhile, another 80 tournament matches will stream live on the massive Rogers Place terminus screen right in the main ICE District Plaza, creating a vibrant, stadium-like atmosphere in the heart of the city.

Canada Celebrates national fan experience

July 1 festivities: On Wednesday, July 1, the Fan Park hosts Canada Celebrates, a premier national fan activation. This free, family-friendly event features a packed day of soccer-themed activities, live music, food vendors and cultural programming. Fans can catch a full triple-header of crucial Round of 32 knockout matches broadcast throughout the holiday.

Important viewing and bylaw notes

Late-night restrictions: To comply with the City of Edmonton’s overnight noise bylaws, seven specific tournament matches scheduled for 9 p.m. or 10 p.m. kickoff times will not be broadcast in the plaza.
Guaranteed matches: Should Team Canada advance past the group stage, all subsequent playoff matches featuring the national team are guaranteed to be broadcast live inside the Fan Park Tent.
