The January chill is no match for Winterruption YEG, Edmonton’s premier winter music and arts festival. For five days, downtown transforms into a massive circuit of live music, drag, and comedy. We love this festival because it’s the perfect excuse to hop between our favorite local venues and discover incredible artists.
With dozens of shows at spots like the Starlite Room, 9910, Rocky Mountain Icehouse, The Dive Bar, The Cask & Barrel, CKUA, Freemason’s Hall, McDougall United Church, and Double Dragon, there is something for every vibe.
Don’t Miss These Highlights:
- The Big Names: Catch legendary Brooklyn MC Talib Kweli, the grooving “art funk” of Thumpasaurus, or the soulful roots of Hiss Golden Messenger.
- New for 2026: Join the first-ever Winterruption Tailgate Party—a free outdoor show at the ICE District Plaza on Saturday (Jan 24) featuring the high-energy Celtic rock of the Derina Harvey Band.
- The Warm-Up Lounge: Swing by the DECL Space on Friday or Saturday for the “Wienerruption” lounge. Enjoy $5 hot dogs and $7 tall cans while you wait for your next set to start.
Pro-Tip: Dress in layers! You’ll be moving between cozy indoor stages and outdoor festivities. Check the full schedule on the festival website to plan your route.
Cost: Varies (Wristbands and individual show tickets available)
