Coffee Bureau is always a sunny start to the morning with their bright lids and welcoming baristas. Take a seat outside and watch the people go by while you munch on a perfectly caked croissant or doughnut. They also import St. Vitauer bagels weekly from Montreal available in cafe or in a bag of six.

Commodore Restaurant | 10712 Jasper Avenue

At Commodore Restaurant, They’ve been serving coffee at this classic diner on Jasper Avenue since 1942. Here you won’t get a cappuccino, macchiato or any other fancy coffee drink—just a regular brewed diner coffee for $2.  The Commodore offers solid diner standards like breakfast dishes like omelet and pancake dishes so it’s hard not to drop in for only a cup of coffee.

Cookie Love | 10235 101 Street NW, MNP Tower

We don’t know what we like more about this coffee shop, the freshly baked chocolate cookies or the perfectly executed flat white, frothy lattes.  Conveniently located on the pedway system, Cookie Love is a popular spot for office workers.

Credo | 10162 100 Street and 10134 104 Street

For a serious good latte, cappuccino or espresso, pop by Credo, one of Downtown’s most-beloved cafes, serving direct-trade coffee. Both locations are enduringly popular with locals for its unhurried atmosphere, friendly staff and modern design. A stash of New Yorker magazines at the 104 Street location will have you coming back over and over again. The baked goods covers everything from blueberry muffins to brownies to scones.

District Café & Bakery | 10011 109 Street

Start your day off right with coffee from District Café & Bakery. Serial restaurateur Nate Box is the genius behind this much-beloved cafe that brews some of the best coffee in the city. A small approachable menu includes breakfast sandwiches (mmm smoked bacon) and healthy options like house-made granola.  The lunch here is impressive too with classics like grilled cheese, tuna salad, turkey and BLT sandwiches.

DOSC | 10190 104 Street

There’s a lot going on at DOSC. It’s part café, part steak house and part cocktail bar. In the morning, park yourself in front of sun-soaked window with a latte and watch 104 Street passersby. Specializing in artisanal coffee, we can’t get enough of their cortados and affogatos. The place is also famed for its hip interior that appears on many an Instagram story. Hashtag #yegdt.

The Hallway Cafe | 1 Churchill Square

Lui-Chi’s | 10020 101A Avenue

Conveniently located on Rice Howard local near many hotels, Lui-Chi’s specializes in organic wood-roasted, whisky barrel-aged coffee. Beans sourced from Latin America and from Eastern Africa, are stored in whiskey barrels for 90 days, then roasted over an open fire to just past the “first crack.” You can also grab light bites at Lui-Chi’s, such as salads, wraps and sandwiches.

Part café, part boutique, OBJ3CTS pairs great coffee and sandwiches with a curated selection of gifts and fresh flowers. Their custom cakes and baked goods come from sister business Wildrose Bakery—crafted off-site and just as beautiful as they are delicious.
