You don't have to be an Edmonton Oilers to ice skate in Downtown Edmonton. There are lots of options, from, warm indoor rinks to cool outdoor settings

Downtown Community Arena

So you’ve watched the Oilers and Oil Kings skate under the lights, but did you know you can take to the ice at Rogers Place? Put on your favourite jersey and dream big as you skate at the Downtown Community Arena. It’s an indoor rink located inside Rogers Place, just down the hall from the NHL ice surface. There are open public skates, adult skates and skating session for parents and tots — plus sessions where you’re allowed to bring your stick onto the ice. All of these services are free. Alberta Legislature Grounds

The Alberta Legislature Grounds pour a solid layer on their south greens, creating the picture-perfect, Hallmark movie-esque background as you skate under the starts and amongst the twinkling holiday lights. The skating area is open following legislature grounds park hours. 10800 97 Ave NW

Edmonton City Hall

Edmonton City Hall skating rink is a free outdoor community rink that usually appears in mid-December. They often offer free skate rentals with change rooms available during City Hall hours. We recommend checking rink conditions before going.

Ice District Plaza Skating Rink

The Ice District Plaza Skating Rink is located in the heart of Ice District and is set to open in 2022. Equipped with a 30ft electric fire place and bench seating, the Ice Plaza elevates the idea of a community rink. After a few laps around the rink, head to the JW Marriott’s lobby for a bite to eat and drinks.
