Have an unforgettable time at this free festival made for writers!
Bookwyrm SpecFest is a student-led festival that unites Alberta’s emerging speculative fiction writers with local literary professionals for a day of community connection and skill development.
The theme, world-building, explores the craft of building an immersive world and a career as a published author. Expand your access to the literary world by meeting established authors, publishers and other community members!
Events & Activities:
- Speed Mentoring (11:00 am): Get up close with literary professionals to ask questions, learn about the industry, and grow your network in a rotating timed format.
- World-Building Workshop (1:00 pm): Join Alexis Marie Chute to learn how to build new worlds from scratch in your writing! Followed by Q&A.
- Live Action Slush (3:00 pm): Receive live writing feedback from a panel of authors & editors! Submit an excerpt of speculative fiction, and the festival’s host will read anonymized pieces for the panel to critique.
