Have you ever wanted to use the Royal Alberta Museum’s vast collections as your own personal sketching studio? Now is your chance! This month’s session features a “Pink Paradise” theme, showcasing a vibrant array of rarely seen red and pink objects from the museum’s vaults.
From a scarlet ibis to bubblegum-pink vintage fashion, it’s a feast for the eyes and the perfect still-life setup to practice your observational drawing. This is a self-directed, low-pressure environment open to all ages and skill levels. Whether you’re a seasoned artist or just looking to slow down and try something new, it’s a unique way to spend an evening in the heart of the city.
Important Details for Sketchers:
The Setup: Rare objects normally kept behind the scenes will be on display for two hours only.
Materials: Some basic supplies (pencils and paper) are provided, but you are encouraged to bring your own. Please note: To protect the museum objects, only dry media is allowed (no paints, inks, or sprays).
Vibe: It’s a quiet, creative space. Consider bringing headphones if you prefer to sketch to your own music!
