Year of the Horse: Lunar New Year Parade & Celebration at the Museum

Celebrate the Year of the Horse with a vibrant afternoon of culture and community! The festivities kick off with a lively outdoor parade hosted by the Edmonton Chinatown BIA, starting at 11:00 AM at the north end of Chinatown.

Follow the high-energy Lion Dancers as the parade winds its way through the streets, finishing at the Royal Alberta Museum. Once you arrive, head inside to warm up and enjoy a free afternoon of performances and family-friendly activities in the museum lobby. It’s a wonderful way to experience the traditions of the Lunar New Year right in the heart of the city.

Event Highlights:

Chinatown Parade: Catch the Lion Dancers starting at 11:00 AM in north Chinatown.

Lobby Festivities: Enjoy free performances and cultural activities from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM inside the RAM.

Community Spirit: A great all-ages event connecting our downtown and Chinatown neighbourhoods.


Cost: Free (Please note: Free admission applies to lobby activities; museum gallery admission is extra).
