Family Day 2026: A Downtown Arts Extravaganza

Make the most of your long weekend with a trip to the heart of the city! On Monday, February 16, the Downtown Arts District comes alive with a massive lineup of free, family-friendly programming.

From live music and hip-hop dance to circus arts and drumming, there is something for every age and energy level. Explore our world-class venues like the Art Gallery of Alberta, The Citadel Theatre, and the Stanley A. Milner Library, or head outside to City Hall Plaza for games and skating.

12:00–4:00: Free Skate Rentals at the Plaza Rink

1:00–4:00: Mbira Renaissance Band & Shasily Dance Workshops (Rotating sets)

Art Gallery of Alberta (Free Admission 11:00–4:15)

12:00: Rapid Fire Theatre (Ledcor Theatre)

1:15 & 3:00: Booming Tree Taiko Drumming (Ledcor Theatre)

All Day: Art-making with Educators and AGA Bingo

The Citadel Theatre

12:00: Michelle & Friends Interactive Songs (Zeidler Theatre)

12:00 & 2:15: Rhythm Speaks Hip Hop Dance (Tucker Amphitheatre)

1:00 & 3:15: Brianna Lizotte Métis Fiddle (Tucker Amphitheatre)

Important Ticketing Info: While admission is free, performances at the AGA and Citadel Zeidler Theatre are first-come, first-served. Tickets will be available at each venue’s entrance/box office starting one hour before each scheduled showtime.

Cost: FREE (Free parking is also available at City of Edmonton EPark locations).
