DBA Welcomes Puneeta McBryan as Executive Director

The Downtown Business Association (DBA) of Edmonton is pleased to announce that Puneeta McBryan will join the organization as Executive Director effective December 14, 2020.

“Ms. McBryan is an accomplished marketer and business strategist who has helped a diverse array of Edmonton businesses win new customers and markets,” said DBA Board Chair Robert Bothwell. “She shares our vision for a vibrant, inclusive and innovative downtown, and brings a track record of community building through partnerships.”

Ms. McBryan has collaborated with many DBA member businesses through her leadership roles at ZGM Modern Marketing Partners since 2016, and her previous work for marketing firms Incite and Amplomedia. As a leader in her profession, she has served on the Board of the Advertising Club of Edmonton (ACE) for five years and recently concluded her term as President of the ACE Board. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Alberta.

“Downtown is the heartbeat of our city, and it’s undoubtedly being impacted by these painful and uncertain times. But I believe that on the other side of the COVID-19 pandemic, there is tremendous opportunity and renewal in store for downtown and the DBA has a leadership role to play in getting us there,” said incoming Executive Director Puneeta McBryan. “A thriving, reconnected and resilient downtown is absolutely essential to Edmonton’s economic recovery and long-term prosperity. I’m looking forward to collaborating with the DBA’s members, stakeholders and volunteers to convert the community’s collective energy and love for downtown into meaningful actions and results.”

Ms. McBryan joins the DBA following a comprehensive search process, led by a DBA Board recruitment committee and administered by Optimum Talent.

“On behalf of the DBA Board, I would like to thank Nick Lilley for his leadership guiding the organization through the second half of 2020,” said Mr. Bothwell. “As Interim Executive Director, Mr. Lilley was instrumental in sustaining the DBA’s programs and services to members, leading our team of staff and volunteers, and adapting the organization’s offerings to the realities of the pandemic. As a result, we are in a strong position to support our members as we enter 2021.”
