Drop-in Sketching: Draw Skeletons from the RAM’s Private Collection

Level up your anatomical drawing skills at this month’s Drop-in Sketching session. To celebrate the opening of the new exhibition, Death: Life’s Greatest Mystery, the museum is pulling a variety of animal skeletons out of the vaults for a one-of-a-kind still-life setup.

This self-directed session is open to all ages and skill levels. Whether you want to study the intricate structure of a bird’s wing or the powerful frame of a mammal, this is a rare opportunity to sketch objects normally kept behind the scenes. It’s a quiet, creative way to spend your Thursday evening in the heart of downtown.

Important Details for Artists:

Unique Subjects: A diverse array of skeletons from the museum’s natural history collection.

Materials: Some basic supplies (pencils and paper) are provided. You are welcome to bring your own, but dry media only (no paints, inks, or sprays) to ensure the safety of the specimens.

Pro-Tip: If you’re a regular at these sessions, consider the Mammoth Pass for $35 to get unlimited admission and discounts at the museum café and shop.

Cost: Free with Museum Admission (First come, first served)
